Allow myself to introduce…….myself

May 09

I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself. I feel like there are so many things that are impersonal on the internet. Let’s face it, you’re talking to people that are possible half way across the country or half way around the world and you never really get a chance to know them. To know why they do what they do. To get an understanding of who they are and what drives them.

Granted, there are the ABOUT ME pages but how accurate are those? Are those people being genuine when they give details about themselves? I don’t know.

If you’ve read my About page, you know I have a college degree in Marine Biology. You also know that after I had my daughter she was in the NICU for a week which caused me to need much help from the nurses that worked there which made me want to help people in a similar way.

What that page doesn’t tell you is that I tend to curse. A lot. A lot more than I should probably. I have two small children that know more bad words than they should but, knock on wood, they’ve never said any of them in a room with authoritative adults and for that I’m extremely grateful.

I try to keep things as cool and calm as I possibly can. I probably started doing this subconsciously after working with little beings that couldn’t speak back and it just carried on into my personal relationships.

I like to think I’m funny. After all, if you can’t laugh at yourself you’re probably taking yourself WAAAAAYYYYYY too seriously and I just don’t have time for that nonsense.

I try to tell it like it is and not let people believe the own crap that comes out of their mouths.

I HATE repeating myself (also exacerbated by the dog training I’m sure) but also hate speaking just to hear my own voice(this last one is more directed at my children but also to the clients who do their own thing despite me telling them multiple times over how to do something correctly).

Now, having said all that, I also have the patience of a saint. I’m not tooting my own horn, I’m just saying that I can stay calm and patient long after others might have stopped. I also LOVE my clients. The vast majority of my clients have been kind and caring, generous and just good dog parents who want the best for their dogs at all times.

I’ve been a people pleaser since I was a kid and it’s definitely carried over into my adult years. Whenever I help someone, I treat them how I would want to be treated and I don’t judge. My ideal relationship with my dog might be completely different than another person’s idea of what their ideal relationship might be. It’s my job to help people create that.

I feel like I’ve blabbered on for a bit now but I feel like you have a better understanding of who I am, what I do, and what I’m about. I’m incredibly passionate about dog training and cultivating beautiful relationships with our dogs. It’s through dog training that I’ve learned how to be more calm, more strategic in solving problems, and more focused on the small details when analyzing things. It’s also my job to transfer over those skills to help you create those ideal relationships.

You guys have a wonderful day and I’ll talk to you soon. Have fun, and Happy Training!
